In het Pajottenland, Sint-Martens Bodegem, België, werd recent een nieuwe Nederlandstalige Orthodoxe Parochie opgericht, voor alle orthodoxe gelovigen, van welke origine dan ook.
Een pracht van een dorpskerk in vroege Brabantse gotiek staat ons ter beschikking - in gedeeld gebruik met de Rooms katholieke parochie ter plaatse. Door ingrijpende restauratiewerken moet, al dan niet tijdelijk, verhuisd worden naar een andere kerk in de regio, die niet minder historische waarde en schoonheid heeft.
Voor de orthodoxe eredienst is uiteraard een iconostase noodzakelijk. Tijdelijk lossen wij dit op met banners, deels wegens het historische karakter van de kerk, en deels wegens het gedeelde gebruik. De toekomstige iconostase moet gemakkelijk verplaatst kunnen worden. Vandaar de optie om een mobiele iconostase te laten maken, in dezelfde stijl als alle lambrisering van de kerk. Ook het altaar heeft  extra aankleding nodig, en het koor mist een koorstandaard. Vandaar deze oproep tot gulle schenkers om dit mooie project te kunnen realiseren.

In the Pajottenland region, in Sint-Martens Bodegem, Belgium, a new Dutch-speaking Orthodox parish has recently been established, open to all Orthodox believers, whatever their background.

A magnificent village church in the early Brabant Gothic style is at our disposal – shared with the local Roman Catholic parish. Due to extensive restoration work, we will have to move, whether temporarily or not, to another church in the region, which is no less historic or beautiful.

An iconostasis is, of course, essential for Orthodox worship. We are temporarily addressing this with banners, partly due to the church’s historic character and partly because of the shared use of the building. Therefore the future iconostasis must be easy to move. So, we considered the option of having a mobile iconostasis made, in the same style as all the panelling in the church. The altar also requires additional decoration, and the choir lacks a choir stand. Hence this appeal to generous donors to help realise this wonderful project.
