Bakau Basketball Academy in Gambia
Helping and inspiring kids to play basketball - isn't that what we all want?
5 years ago, one of my good friends Enoch Derby launched an initiative to help Bakau Basketball Academy in Gambia. Whether it's a 5-year old or a 21-year old, Bakau provides basketball practices and fun games for all the youth that want to play basketball in the neighbourhood.
Their biggest challenge: basketball gear for the kids coming to the practices. They don't have the means to buy it, so they make do with anything they can.
Every year, Enoch sends a container with all kinds of basketball gear ranging from jerseys, shorts, shoes, basketball training material, basketballs, … to Gambia for them to give to the kids and use at their practices. He asks around in his network for people who have gear that is in good shape that they don't use, but: there's 1 problem.
There are a lot of people who don't play basketball, or have given away all of their old clothes. We've set up a donation page for all those people who want to help out through a financial donation, ensuring that the container arrives safely at the destination. With any extra's, we will be buying basketball gear & training material to give to the Academy, and look in to anything else they need at their location. We will be travelling to Gambia to help out and give practice at the Academy soon!
Any kind of donation is great - whatever the amount. Would you like to donate clothes, or any other type of basketball stuff? Feel free to contact me!
Stuur me eventjes een berichtje.
